A 17-year-old girl, who disappeared from Utah in May 2025, has been rescued from a home in Oregon. Her recovery came after she established contact with another teenager through the online game Among Us and revealed she was being held against her will. The pair later communicated on a different social media platform, where the girl provided details about her situation and location.

The other teen informed their parent, who then contacted the FBI on November 1. Agents were able to listen in on a video call between the parent and the girl, leading to her rescue later that day. According to the US Attorney's Office for the District of Utah, the alleged perpetrator, 39-year-old Adam Hunter Harmel of Huntington, Oregon, had met the girl online in May 2025. He then reportedly drove to Utah to pick her up and transported her to his home in Oregon, crossing state lines. Harmel was arrested during a traffic stop and has been charged with transportation with intent to engage in criminal sexual activity. He appeared in court in Boise, Idaho, on November 4.

US Attorney Melissa Holyoak stated, "Our priority in this case was the safe return of the minor victim. Those who allegedly exploit and prey upon the most vulnerable members of our communities will be relentlessly investigated and held accountable."

The US Attorney's Office for the District of Utah emphasized that the complaint is an allegation and that all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
