Best Buy is currently offering open-box "Excellent Condition" Asus ROG Ally X handheld gaming PCs for $849.99, with "Fair Condition" models available for as little as $789.99. These Geek Squad-verified preowned units come with a 15-day return policy.
The Asus ROG Ally X is recognized as one of the premier Windows handheld gaming PCs, powered by an AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme processor, 24GB of RAM, and a 1TB SSD. Its Xbox interface is noted for its usability, and IGN's Jackie Thomas recommends it over the Steam Deck, suggesting that Steam OS can be installed on nearly any PC.
Compared to other handhelds featuring the Ryzen Z2 Extreme CPU, the Ally X presents a more competitive price point. The Lenovo Legion Go 2 retails for $1,300, and the MSI Claw A8 is priced at $1,200. Even the newer Xbox Ally X20, which uses identical internal hardware but includes an OLED display, costs $1,299.99.
According to IGN's reporting, significant further discounts on the Xbox Ally X during the upcoming Black Friday sales are unlikely. Any promotions are expected to be minor, with prices similar to the current open-box deals being hard to come by unless stacking various offers and discounts.
