Early Black Friday sales have brought a notable discount on the SanDisk 512GB MicroSD Express Card, priced at $91.05 on Newegg's official store via AliExpress. This deal requires applying a $20 off coupon code, "DBDEAL20," and includes local shipping from the United States with an estimated delivery within a week. Newegg is an authorized SanDisk reseller.
The Nintendo Switch 2 comes with 256GB of internal storage, which may prove insufficient given the increasing size of modern games. Standard MicroSD cards from previous Nintendo consoles will not be compatible with the Switch 2; the newer MicroSD Express card offers significantly faster transfer speeds of up to 800MB/s. This 512GB card effectively triples the console's storage capacity.
Several Switch 2 titles demand substantial storage space. For instance, Final Fantasy 14 requires approximately 117GB, nearly half of the console's internal storage. Other games like Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade (90GB), Split Fiction (70GB), Cyberpunk 2077 (60GB), and Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment (44GB) also represent significant storage commitments. The upcoming The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is expected to take up around 27GB. Downloading just a few of these titles can quickly exhaust the Switch 2's onboard storage.
For Costco members, the SanDisk "Gameplay" MicroSD Express card is available for $89.99 with free delivery, potentially offering a slightly lower price point. A Samsung P9 512GB MicroSD Express card is also available for $99, sold and shipped by Amazon. This card has been personally reviewed and recommended.
