Adam Driver has stated that his time playing Kylo Ren in Star Wars is over. However, he expressed openness to reprising the role should a planned solo film centered on the character, tentatively titled The Hunt for Ben Solo, be revived.
Driver and director Steven Soderbergh had developed the film, intended as a sequel to The Rise of Skywalker that would have resurrected the character. Despite support from Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy, Disney reportedly rejected the project, unable to approve of Kylo Ren's resurrection. Driver and Soderbergh reportedly spent two years on the film's development.
Fan campaigns advocating for the film have not swayed Driver, who told The Rich Eisen Show that there would be "no more Star Wars" for him. When asked about a potential return for The Hunt for Ben Solo, Driver indicated he would participate if the film were revived but believes "the ship has sailed."
Lucasfilm's Dave Filoni previously confirmed that the movie was not in active development. The studio is reportedly moving forward with Star Wars Episode 10, with Jon Watts attached to direct. It remains unclear whether characters from the sequel trilogy will feature in this new project.
Steven Soderbergh has since moved on to assist with production on The Batman Part 2 and has expressed his own disinterest in returning to the Kylo Ren project, feeling that if it were to happen, it would have already occurred.
