James Cameron's "Avatar: Fire and Ash" has quickly ascended to the top of Disney+'s streaming charts, securing the number one position worldwide a mere day after its digital release on June 24. This achievement follows the film's considerable success in theaters, where it debuted on December 19, 2025, and garnered nearly $1.5 billion at the global box office.

The third installment in the "Avatar" saga continues the story of Jake Sully and Neytiri's family as they confront both human adversaries and rival Na'vi tribes, dealing with the aftermath of the loss of their son from the previous film, "Avatar: The Way of Water." According to third-party tracking site FlixPatrol, the film is currently the most-watched movie on Disney+'s platform in both the United States and globally.

Despite the franchise's massive undertaking and significant production costs, with "Fire and Ash" reportedly costing $350 million, director James Cameron remains engaged with the future of the series. While acknowledging the challenges of producing sequels on this scale, Cameron has expressed his intention to develop "Avatar 4" and "Avatar 5." He is exploring new technologies to streamline the production process, aiming to halve the creation time and reduce costs by approximately one-third.

Cameron has also assured fans that even if further sequels are not feasible, he plans to reveal the intended conclusion of the "Avatar" narrative. He stated in December 2025 that if the saga could not continue beyond its planned arc, he would hold a press conference to disclose the story he envisioned for the remaining installments.
