Rumors surrounding the next actor to embody James Bond have introduced Jack Lowden, a 36-year-old Scottish actor previously featured in the video game Battlefield 1. TV presenter Richard Osman shared on his podcast, "The Rest Is Entertainment," that a source indicated Lowden is "for definite" in contention for the role, though no official confirmation has been made.

Lowden's sole video game credit is his portrayal of T.E. Lawrence, also known as Lawrence of Arabia, in the 2016 DICE-developed shooter. Beyond his gaming appearance, Lowden is recognized for his television work, including the role of River on "Slow Horses," and is set to appear as Mr. Darcy in an upcoming Netflix adaptation of "Pride and Prejudice." His other credits include an appearance as Forodwaith Sauron in an episode of "The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power," a role in Christopher Nolan's film "Dunkirk," and voicing Gunnar in the recent "Rogue Trooper" movie.

Should Lowden be cast, he would be the second Scottish actor to play James Bond, following in the footsteps of Sean Connery. The original James Bond character, created by Ian Fleming, is also Scottish.

The search for the next James Bond actor is ongoing, with Amazon MGM Studios having confirmed in May that the process was underway. The studio has declined to comment on the casting process. Other actors reportedly being considered for the role include Callum Turner, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Jacob Elordi, Theo James, Tom Francis, and Josh O'Connor.

Fans have been anticipating the next installment in the Bond franchise since "No Time To Die" was released in 2021. The production faced several delays, partly due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Daniel Craig concluded his five-film tenure as Bond with "No Time To Die." Amazon MGM Studios acquired the franchise and is reportedly taking back creative control from longtime stewards Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson. The next James Bond film is slated to be directed by Denis Villeneuve, known for his work on the "Dune" franchise, as well as "Prisoners," "Sicario," "Blade Runner 2049," and "Arrival."
