Prime Video unveiled the debut trailer for Blade Runner 2099 at San Diego Comic-Con 2026, confirming the series will premiere on November 25, 2026, with all eight episodes available on that date. The show is set half a century after the events of Blade Runner 2049, depicting a Los Angeles where an uprising has led to replicants taking control and humans becoming second-class citizens.
The trailer showcases the series' adherence to the cyberpunk aesthetic established by Ridley Scott's original film, featuring towering skyscrapers adorned with video advertisements and the iconic flying vehicles known as spinners. Scott himself serves as an executive producer on the series, collaborating with showrunner Silka Luisa to capture the distinct feel of the Blade Runner universe.
While the series maintains the franchise's dystopian themes, its visual presentation leans towards a brighter aesthetic compared to the dark, rainy atmosphere of the 1982 original and the cold, snowy landscapes of Denis Villeneuve's 2049. However, the trailer does offer glimpses of the city at night, illuminated by neon lights and scarred by the presence of spinners in flight.
The narrative centers on Cora, played by Hunter Schafer, a human fugitive who has spent her life evading Blade Runners. She is compelled to team up with Olwen, a replicant Blade Runner portrayed by Michelle Yeoh, who is nearing the end of her operational life. Together, they embark on a mission to track down a runaway replicant carrying a truth that could destabilize the entire city.
Cora's voiceover in the trailer sets a grim tone: "We already fought a war. We lost. Replicants, they keep taking it all away. But how much longer until we have nothing? Until we are nothing."
The series features Dimitri Abold and Lewis Gribben as series regulars, joining Schafer and Yeoh. Additional cast members in recurring guest roles include Katelyn Rose Downey, Daniel Rigby, Johnny Harris, Amy Lennox, Sheila Atim, Matthew Needham, Tom Burke, and Maurizio Lombardi.
