Netflix has announced that the second season of its acclaimed animated series Blue Eye Samurai will premiere on January 19, 2027. The upcoming season will consist of six episodes, a reduction from the eight episodes in its first season. Fans can also anticipate a third season, with plans for the series to conclude in 2028.

The announcement was made at Anime NYC, following initial hints at a Season 2 release in early 2027. The first season concluded with Mizu, a half-white, half-Japanese swordswoman in disguise, on the cusp of continuing her quest for revenge. Her targets were four European men, one of whom is her father.

Season 2 will see Mizu travel to London in 1657, a setting described by co-creators Amber Noizumi and Michael Green as having a "thriving culture of illicit activity" that mirrors the series' Japanese setting. They further elaborated that Mizu will navigate this environment within a society that was puritanical, persecuting women as witches and outlawing various forms of entertainment.

Maya Erskine is set to return as the voice of Mizu. The cast also includes Brenda Song as Akemi, Darren Barnet as Taigen, and Masi Oka as Ringo. New voice actors joining for season 2 include Sherry Cola as Kuma, Joel Kim Booster as Priest Ando, and Jonathan Pryce as Old Violet. Mizu holds a sword in Blue Eye Samurai season 2 Image: Netflix
