The second season of the Cyberpunk: Edgerunners anime is slated for a fall 2026 release, Netflix, CD Projekt Red, and Studio Trigger announced recently. The announcement included the first look at four new characters set to appear in the standalone 10-episode story, which will continue to explore the world of Cyberpunk 2077.
Newcomers to Night City include Weak Kingsley, a veteran Edgerunner whose past glory now casts a long shadow. D is a Netrunner from the Snack Nation, seeking vengeance for the destruction of his clan. Roman Carax, the youngest of the group, is portrayed as a cinephile searching for authentic narratives in a city that has prioritized braindances over traditional cinema. Rounding out the new cast is Talia Yang, an individual with connections to both the corpo world and the Maelstrom gang, whose passion lies in chrome and combat.
These characters are featured on the first poster for Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2. The series is being directed by Kai Ikarashi, with Kanno Ichigo handling character designs. Bartosz Sztybor and Masahiko Otsuka, original writers from the first season, are also returning for the sequel.
An official description states that Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 will be "a raw chronicle of redemption and revenge." The narrative will delve into the question of what it takes to make one's story matter in a city consumed by spectacle and violence.
The original Cyberpunk: Edgerunners anime premiered in September 2022, receiving critical acclaim for its animation, storytelling, and faithfulness to the source material's dark tone. A new teaser trailer for the sequel is expected to be revealed soon.
