Netflix has revealed a Fall premiere date and a new trailer for the standalone sequel to its hit anime series, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2. The upcoming 10-episode season will introduce a fresh cast of characters and a new story, while remaining set in the familiar dystopian metropolis of Night City.
The series will focus on four new protagonists: Weak Kingsley, described as a veteran Edgerunner once known as 'King' who now lives in the shadow of his past; D, a netrunner from the Snake Nation seeking vengeance for his clan's annihilation; Talia Yang, who originates from the corpo towers but embraces a life of chrome and combat; and Roman Carax, a young cinephile searching for genuine narratives in a city that has replaced cinema with braindances.
Kai Ikarashi, the director of the original Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, returns to helm the sequel. He is joined by Kanno Ichigo, the returning lead designer, and Hugo Award winner Bartosz Sztybor, who will serve as showrunner, story writer, and producer.
