The long-awaited 'Community' movie, first announced by Peacock in September 2022, is still a work in progress, according to star Danny Pudi. While the project has faced multiple delays, Pudi expressed optimism about its eventual production in a recent interview with Polygon.

Pudi, who portrayed the pop-culture-obsessed student Abed Nadir, admitted that he often receives updates about the movie's status from fans rather than directly from the production. "In typical Community fashion, I think people know about the Community movie or updates about the world online faster than I do," he stated. "So sometimes I'll just ask people like, 'Did we do it already? Are we in it? Have we filmed it? Are we waiting? Are we in post-production?'"

The cult sitcom, which ran for six seasons from 2009 to 2015, followed the eccentric lives of students at Greendale Community College. The show's consistent fanbase adopted the mantra "six seasons and a movie," a sentiment that has persisted despite the movie adaptation's prolonged development.

Despite the ongoing uncertainty, Pudi highlighted that the cast remains enthusiastic about reuniting. He noted "a few opportunities recently" that have further fueled the cast's eagerness to return. "So I'm hopeful. I believe it will happen," Pudi said. "I'm very much an optimist and I think this is going to happen."

The path to filming has been particularly challenging. In March, 'Community' writer Andrew Guest shared on The Watch podcast that the production had been "very close to shooting" before a scheduling conflict with one of the main cast members necessitated another delay. Guest emphasized the filmmakers' desire to have the entire ensemble present due to the crucial role their chemistry plays in the show's dynamic.

As of now, there is no confirmed release date or production timeline for the 'Community' movie. However, if Pudi's optimism proves accurate, the enduring joke of "six seasons and a movie" may finally materialize.
