A new trailer for Dune: Part Three has been released, coinciding with the start of ticket sales for the film, which is anticipated to be a major cinematic event in 2026. Director Denis Villeneuve's concluding chapter in his Dune saga is scheduled to premiere in theaters on December 18.
The 30-second trailer features new footage and, for the first time, delivers the voice of Edric. The trailer includes a snippet where Florence Pugh's character, Princess Irulan, asks Edric, "Tell me what lies ahead." Edric, voiced with a gravely tone, ominously replies, "The end."
Edric is a key figure in Frank Herbert's novel Dune Messiah, the basis for the upcoming film. As a Spacing Guild Navigator, he is a central conspirator in the book's plot against Emperor Paul Atreides. This reveal marks the first look and sound of a fully mutated Spacing Guild Navigator within Villeneuve's adaptation. Previously, these integral characters responsible for interstellar travel have been kept off-screen to maintain an air of mystery. Human representatives of the Spacing Guild, distinct from the mutated Navigators, made brief appearances in Dune: Part One.
In the Dune universe, Guild Navigators are mutated humans who possess limited precognitive abilities, enhanced by the spice melange. This prescience enables them to safely navigate colossal starships known as Heighliners through folded space, granting the Spacing Guild a monopoly on interstellar travel. The portrayal of the Guild Navigator in David Lynch's 1984 film adaptation is remembered for its surreal depiction of a mutated being floating in a tank of fluid.
Dune: Part Three has secured IMAX screenings for its release, following a similar strategy to Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey. A special trailer for Dune: Part Three, showcasing a battle sequence, was previously played before IMAX showings of The Odyssey, with Villeneuve expressing his gratitude to Nolan for the opportunity.
