Ewan McGregor, who reprised his role as Obi-Wan Kenobi in the recent Disney+ series, has proposed a new story concept for the legendary Jedi. McGregor shared with Variety that he pitched an idea to Lucasfilm president and chief creative officer Dave Filoni, envisioning a narrative where Kenobi actively searches for Yoda.
Following the events of Episode III, Jedi scattered across the galaxy, and McGregor suggested a story where Obi-Wan would attempt to reconnect with Yoda, who was in hiding. "He's out there. So I think there could be a story there where I'm trying to reach out to him," McGregor stated regarding his conversation with Filoni. The actor noted that this would be a post-Episode III adventure, occurring before the events of The Empire Strikes Back where Yoda is eventually found on Dagobah. There has been no indication that Lucasfilm intends to pursue this suggestion.
McGregor also touched upon his previous speculation about a potential romance between Obi-Wan Kenobi and Hera, a character from Star Wars Rebels and Ahsoka, who is portrayed by his wife, Mary Elizabeth Winstead. He acknowledged that the characters are now in "different time frames," making such a romantic storyline unlikely.
Recent production trends suggest that Disney may be scaling back its live-action Star Wars series. Following the release of Ahsoka Season 2, no further Star Wars projects are currently confirmed to be in production.
