Media distributor GKIDS used its 2026 Anime Expo panel to reveal four new home video releases, including three collector's editions of established anime films and the first Blu-ray release for Hideaki Anno's 1998 live-action film, Love & Pop. All four editions are scheduled for release this fall and are available for preorder exclusively through GKIDS.

The collector's editions will feature 4K restorations and include physical booklets alongside digital bonus features. The selected films are Nobuhiro Yamashita's Linda Linda Linda (2005), Mamoru Oshii's Angel's Egg (1985), and Kiyotaka Oshiyama's Look Back (2024). Each release boasts new artwork and premium collectible packaging.

The Linda Linda Linda Collector's Edition is set to release on August 25, 2026, priced at $49.99. Its bonus features include a behind-the-scenes featurette, the U.S. trailer, and a booklet with an essay by David Ehrlich and interviews with the director and screenwriter. The Look Back Collector's Edition will follow on September 8, 2026, for $65.99. This edition includes "The Making of Look Back," an audio commentary, interviews with the director and cast, post-screening talks, TV spots, teasers, trailers, and a 160-page book.

Angel's Egg Collector's Edition arrives on September 22, 2026, also at $49.99. Special features for this release comprise interviews with Yoshitaka Amano and Mamoru Oshii, a Japan Society talk with Amano, the official U.S. trailer, and a booklet featuring an essay by Danielle Burgos.

Lastly, the HD Blu-ray release of Love & Pop is slated for October 6, 2026, at $29.99. This edition includes "Hideaki Anno: Evangelion and Love & Pop," a deleted scene, TV spots, teasers, and trailers.

GKIDS described the lineup as a blend of "new and classic titles" that demonstrates the company's dedication to preserving and celebrating feature films through high-quality physical media. Angel's Egg is recognized as an influential 1980s animation, while Love & Pop marked Anno's first commercial live-action project in the late 1990s. Linda Linda Linda received a 4K UHD remaster for its 20th anniversary last year.

The upcoming GKIDS edition of Look Back marks its first Blu-ray release in the West. While the film, a Tatsuki Fujimoto adaptation, was released on Blu-ray in Japan earlier this year, some observers have noted that the GKIDS edition will share the same art and packaging design as its Japanese counterpart.

GKIDS, which began its exclusive home video releases in 2022, has also expanded its reach beyond physical media. The distributor secured a deal with HBO Max last fall, granting the service streaming rights to 20 "adult-oriented" films, including Love & Pop and Angel's Egg.
