Krispy Kreme is celebrating a significant milestone in Pokémon's history with a new collection of themed doughnuts. Available starting August 18 in U.S. and Canadian locations, the limited-time offering includes six distinct designs.
Five of the doughnuts are inspired by specific Pokémon from the Kanto region, including the original three starter Pokémon: Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle. Other Kanto favorites, Pikachu and Jigglypuff, also receive their own edible tributes. The sixth doughnut represents the classic Poké Ball. Each of these specialty doughnuts is crafted with unique flavors and decorations to match its Pokémon inspiration.
The collection can be purchased individually or as a "Specialty Dozen Pack," which comes in a unique Pokémon-themed box. For consumers seeking a different option, a six-pack omitting the Bulbasaur and Squirtle doughnuts in favor of plain glazed ones will be available at retailers such as Walmart, Kroger, and Publix.
In addition to the doughnuts, Krispy Kreme will offer five different Pokémon-themed cups for its "Original Glazed Gold Dots" doughnut holes. Further sweetening the deal, Krispy Kreme locations will offer a free original glazed doughnut on August 22 to anyone wearing Pokémon merchandise.
Preorders for the full 12-pack have already opened online, suggesting strong demand. Krispy Kreme has stated the collection will be available for a "limited time" without a definitive end date, a move that may be influenced by the popularity of Pokémon merchandise and potential stock concerns.
This collaboration is part of a broader series of celebrations for Pokémon's 30th anniversary, which has included merchandise with brands like Puma, new guidebooks, and extensive LEGO sets. A special 30th-anniversary product drop for the Pokémon trading card game is also anticipated later this year. While no mainline Pokémon game was announced for the anniversary, a new spin-off, Pokémon Pokopia, has been released for the Switch 2.
