An updated poster for the 10th-anniversary re-release of the musical romantic comedy-drama La La Land has corrected an issue that Ryan Gosling found bothersome for nearly a decade. The new poster depicts Gosling and co-star Emma Stone dancing under the Los Angeles cityscape, a design that rectifies the precise pose of Gosling's left hand, which he has referred to as "La La Hand."
Gosling previously explained in a 2024 interview that he was unaware the initial photograph would become the film's official poster. He recalled, "We were supposed to have our hands up, and I thought it would be cool to put my hand [more flat], even though everyone told me it wasn’t cool. I was sure it was cooler. Now when I look at it, and I have to see it all the time, you know, what would’ve been cooler… [the intended pose]. It just killed the energy that way."
To commemorate its 10th anniversary, La La Land will return to theaters starting Sunday, August 16. The film, which earned six Oscars and seven Golden Globes, follows the intertwined ambitions of aspiring actress Mia and jazz musician Seb in Los Angeles. IGN awarded the film a 9.5 out of 10, describing it as a "joyous filmgoing experience" and a "musical brimming with optimism that never becomes treacly."
Beyond its theatrical re-release, La La Land is also slated for a Broadway adaptation. This stage version will feature music by Justin Hurwitz and lyrics by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, the same team responsible for the original film's acclaimed soundtrack. Marc Platt, a producer for La La Land, expressed his excitement for the Broadway production, calling it the "next exciting chapter in its evolution" and noting that a "world-class team" has been assembled to create a musical that will appeal to both existing fans and new audiences.
