Michael B. Jordan, who captivated audiences as Erik Killmonger in the first two Black Panther films, has publicly endorsed David Jonsson as the MCU's next Black Panther. Speaking at the premiere of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Jordan shared his enthusiastic approval.

"Oh, I love it," Jordan stated. "It’s amazing! I can’t wait, can’t wait!”

Jordan's character, Erik Killmonger, served as a formidable antagonist aiming to usurp the Wakandan throne and leverage its technology. Despite Killmonger's demise in the first film, Jordan reprised the role in a spectral capacity in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Jordan has a long-standing creative relationship with director Ryan Coogler, collaborating on projects such as Fruitvale Station, Creed, and Black Panther, the latter of which earned them Academy Awards. Their most recent collaboration, Sinners, also garnered Oscar recognition.

Filmmaker Ryan Coogler is reportedly slated to direct Black Panther 3, with a potential release in December 2028. The development of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever presented Coogler with significant challenges following the unexpected passing of Chadwick Boseman, who originated the role of T'Challa. Rather than recast the part, Coogler chose to transition the mantle to Shuri, T'Challa's sister. Reports now indicate that the Black Panther mantle will pass to T'Challa's son, with David Jonsson cast in the pivotal role.

Jonsson's casting was announced at San Diego Comic-Con and has been met with widespread anticipation. The actor is recognized for his performances in "Alien: Romulus" and "The Long Walk," with the latter reportedly influencing Coogler's decision to cast him. It remains uncertain whether Jonsson will make his debut in the upcoming "Avengers: Secret Wars" or await his introduction in "Black Panther 3."
