Writer-director Michael Mann is set to unveil a new iteration of his 2006 film, Miami Vice. The Director's Final Cut will receive its world premiere at Beyond Fest in Los Angeles on October 3, 2026, and will be followed by a question-and-answer session with Mann himself. The festival screening will present the film in 4K.

This revised version marks a potential departure from previous iterations, including the Miami Vice: Unrated Director’s Edition released on Blu-ray in 2008. That earlier re-edit incorporated scenes removed from the theatrical release and featured new music cues.

Mann's original production of Miami Vice was reportedly fraught with challenges, notably the abrupt departure of lead actor Jamie Foxx, who portrayed Detective Ricardo Tubbs alongside Colin Farrell's Sonny Crockett. Foxx's exit during filming in the Dominican Republic necessitated changes to the film's conclusion. While the 2006 release initially topped the domestic box office, it faced a mixed critical and commercial reception. Nevertheless, the film has since garnered a cult following and has undergone critical reappraisal.

Separately, a big screen reboot titled Miami Vice ‘85, directed by Joseph Kosinski and starring Michael B. Jordan and Austin Butler, is slated for release on May 19, 2028.
