The second film in the Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway anime trilogy, Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway: The Sorcery of Nymph Circe, will stream on Netflix on August 31. The streaming service released a new trailer for the film on Tuesday, coinciding with the announcement of its digital release date.

Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway: The Sorcery of Nymph Circe premiered in Japanese theaters in January and received a cinema release in North America in May. This film, along with its predecessors, adapts the Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway novels written by series creator Yoshiyuki Tomino in the late 1980s. The story is set in the Universal Century (UC) timeline, specifically in UC 0105, which is 26 years after the events of the original Mobile Suit Gundam.

Sunrise is producing the trilogy of films based on the novels. The first movie, Mobile Suit Gundam: Hathaway, was released in June 2021 and is currently available on Netflix. Both films released so far have been praised, with many viewers identifying them as an accessible entry point into the Gundam franchise. Fans anticipate the release of the final film in the trilogy.

Shukou Murase, who also directed the first film, returned to direct The Sorcery of Nymph Circe. Yasuyuki Muto penned the screenplay, with Shinichirou Watanabe handling storyboards. The theme song was performed by SZA, and Sunrise handled the animation.

While a release window for the final movie in the Hathaway trilogy has not yet been announced, other Gundam projects are on the horizon. Mobile Suit Gundam RG XARX-ZERO, a new anime set in an alternate post-apocalyptic universe where pilots fight aliens, was revealed last month. It will share its universe with the upcoming action game Mobile Suit Rogue Orbit, both scheduled for release in 2027. Additionally, Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Freedom Zero, a prequel to the film Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Freedom, is in development, as is a live-action Gundam movie.
