Netflix has unveiled the official trailer for its upcoming horror limited series, Below, set to premiere on October 8th. The six-episode series will immerse viewers in a small Newfoundland fishing town grappling with mysterious deaths and an unidentified sea creature lurking beneath the surface.

Below centers on Calvin Penney, a fisherman portrayed by Josh Hartnett, who is haunted by the unresolved death of his father. The past resurfaces when a terrifying sea creature begins to menace the community. The arrival of a massive iceberg into the harbor further escalates the crisis. Despite warnings, boats venture out to investigate, only to discover the creature's immense danger.

As the town succumbs to chaos, Calvin enlists the help of marine researcher Fonda Howander, played by Mackenzie Davis, to understand the threat and protect his family. His son, Wade Penney, portrayed by Charlie Heaton, becomes increasingly entangled in the unfolding mystery. The trailer hints that the creature may be linked to Calvin's father's decades-old death, suggesting a long-standing presence beneath the waves.

Created by Jesse McKeown, known for his work on The Umbrella Academy and The Sinner, Below blends supernatural horror, local mythology, family drama, and suspense. The series was filmed in Newfoundland and Labrador, utilizing its isolated coastal setting to enhance the narrative. While the creature itself remains largely obscured in the trailer, the preview promises significant underwater peril and escalating terror for the town's inhabitants.

The series is scheduled for a world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival before its Netflix debut on October 8th.
