Filming for Netflix's live-action Assassin's Creed series has officially wrapped up, according to a report from Matt's Inside Line, as cited by Polygon. The series, initially announced in 2020, entered its development phase in 2025 with David Wiener and Roberto Patino joining as screenwriters.

This marks the latest attempt to bring the popular video game franchise to live-action. A previous film adaptation starring Michael Fassbender was released in 2016. While it aimed to access the memories of an ancestor from 15th-century Spain, the movie received poor critical reception, scoring only 18% on Rotten Tomatoes.

The upcoming Netflix series will transport viewers to an ancient Rome set in 64 AD, during the reign of Emperor Nero. This historical period predates the era of fan-favorite character Ezio Auditore, who featured in Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, set in early 16th-century Rome.

Netflix has indicated that the series will focus on the clandestine conflict between two shadowy factions, presumably the Assassin Brotherhood and the Templar Order, playing out against significant historical events. Filming took place across Italy and Bulgaria.

The cast includes Lola Petticrew, Toby Wallace, Zachary Hart, Laura Marcus, Tanzyn Crawford, Nabhaan Rizwan, and Claes Bang. With filming now complete, the production moves into the post-production phase, where details such as a release date and trailer are expected to emerge.
