Filming for season 2 of Apple TV+'s award-winning sci-fi series, Pluribus, has reportedly commenced in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The news comes from Production List, which noted the show was in pre-production with filming set to start on October 31. Forbes also reported on November 2 that shooting had begun for the second season.
Pluribus, created by Vince Gilligan (Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul), stars Rhea Seehorn as Carol Sturka, a romantasy author in a post-apocalyptic world. Carol is one of the few humans immune to an alien virus that has turned the rest of humanity into a hive mind known as the Others. The first season earned Seehorn accolades, including Best Actress in a Drama Series at the Golden Globes, Critics' Choice Awards, and Primetime Emmys.
Following her Golden Globe win in January 2026, Seehorn confirmed that the writers' room was active and Gilligan was eager to begin production. Gilligan himself told Polygon in March that he was working on the scripts and promised "lots more excitement and twists and turns" for season 2. Apple TV+ had commissioned two seasons from the outset, but development on season 2 only began in earnest after the first season finale aired in December 2025.
In September 2026, Gilligan hinted that filming might start in late October or early November. A social media post from Ava Harper of SciFi Spiral on October 31 included an image from the Pluribus set, stating that shooting was scheduled for 225 days. Considering the typical post-production timeline, season 2 of Pluribus is unlikely to premiere before the latter half of 2028, nearly three years after the conclusion of its first season.
