Zach Cregger's latest Resident Evil film, which has surpassed $400 million globally to become the most successful entry in the franchise, is slated for a home video release on November 3. According to Fandango, the movie will be available for digital purchase or rental on that date, with a physical Blu-ray edition to follow. It is also expected to arrive on Netflix due to an existing content deal between the streamer and the film's distributor.

In the meantime, Netflix has added Paul W.S. Anderson's original Resident Evil and its sequel, Resident Evil: Apocalypse, to its streaming library. These join Resident Evil: Afterlife, Resident Evil: Retribution, Resident Evil: Extinction, and Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, which were already available. The 2022 Resident Evil live-action television series is also currently streaming on Netflix.

The new film will continue to be shown in theaters, returning to IMAX and other premium large format screens. Cregger, who directed and co-wrote the film, acknowledged some backlash from the gaming community regarding his creative choices. He expressed that while he felt gratified by the film's critical and commercial success, he does not plan to direct further Resident Evil movies. Cregger's future projects will focus on original, non-franchise films, beginning with the sci-fi movie The Flood, starring Jennifer Lawrence.
