The upcoming stop-motion series, Pokémon Tales: The Misadventures of Sirfetch’d and Pichu, will be exclusively available on Disney+ and DisneyXD. This announcement was made during a special showcase at PokémonXP, the first fan convention dedicated to the Pokémon franchise.
The series, first revealed in July 2025, follows the humorous adventures of Sirfetch'd and Pichu in the Galar region. The exclusive streaming deal with Disney marks a shift from the brand's previous stop-motion series, Pokémon Concierge, which is available on Netflix.
Pokémon Tales is a collaboration between The Pokémon Company International and Aardman Animations, the studio behind Wallace and Gromit and Shaun the Sheep. During a behind-the-scenes panel at PokémonXD, it was revealed that 262 people are working on the project, with animators producing approximately 13.5 seconds of animation per week. Each episode requires 110 weeks to complete, and three episodes are typically in simultaneous production.
Animation tests for Pichu and Sirfetch’d, along with an official trailer, were shown during the event. The series is slated for release in 2027. The official logline describes the heroes embarking on a quest to help and protect Pokémon, with their missions forging their friendship amidst peril, rivalries, and humorous encounters.
Escavalier is set to be the main antagonist, depicted as a knight capable of challenging Sirfetch’d. James Young of Aardman Animations expressed excitement about the unique personalities being developed for the Pokémon characters in this series.
In related news, Pokémon Concierge was confirmed for a second season, which is scheduled to premiere on Netflix in September.
