The popular Fox drama Prison Break is officially returning with a new series titled Prison Break: Black Creek, Hulu has revealed. The spin-off is set in the same universe as the original show and is currently in production, with a release planned for Hulu and Disney Plus.

The series description provided by Deadline states that "A soldier-turned-corrections officer takes a job at one of the deadliest prisons in America to prove just how far she’ll go for someone she loves." The story will unfold at the fictional Black Creek Penitentiary.

Elgin James, known for his work on Mayans M.C. and The Outlaws, is serving as showrunner and director for Black Creek. Vanessa Joy Smith is handling cinematography, while Dawn Olmstead, an executive producer on the original Prison Break, returns to the same role. 20th Television, a subsidiary of Disney, is producing the series.

The cast includes Drake Rodger as Tommy, Clayton Cardenas as Michael “Ghost,” JR Bourne as Junior, Georgie Flores as Andrea, and Myles Bullock as Darius “Red.” Noah Emmerich will portray Callum Faulls, a prominent figure in West Virginia.

The original Prison Break aired from 2005 to 2009, with a revival season in 2017. The series centered on brothers Lincoln Burrows and Michael Scofield, with Michael orchestrating a plan to free his brother from death row. The show achieved significant popularity, running for 90 episodes, though its later seasons diverged from its initial premise. The new series aims to recapture the appeal of the original Prison Break.
