Disney Plus is developing a television series based on Rick Riordan's Kane Chronicles book series, with the author set to be heavily involved. Angela Robinson, known for her work on "True Blood" and "The L Word," is attached to executive produce and write the adaptation alongside Riordan.

The project follows Disney Plus's previous adaptation of Riordan's "Percy Jackson and the Olympians," which has garnered critical praise and awards. The third season of the Percy Jackson series, adapting "The Titan's Curse," is scheduled for release on November 20, 2026.

The Kane Chronicles, similar to the Percy Jackson novels, draws inspiration from Egyptian mythology. The story centers on siblings Carter and Sadie Kane, who discover they are descendants of ancient Egyptian pharaohs and possess magical abilities. They interact with Egyptian gods and goddesses in a modern setting. The series comprises three books: "The Red Pyramid" (2010), "The Throne of Fire" (2012), and "The Serpent's Shadow" (2012), and is set within the same universe as Riordan's Percy Jackson stories.

The official description for the show states: “When their father unleashes the god of chaos and vanishes, the estranged Kane siblings must master their inherited Egyptian magic, forge unlikely alliances, and rescue their father before warring gods can wreak havoc on our modern world.”

Riordan will collaborate with executive producer Ellen Goldsmith-Vein and Jeremy Bell of The Gotham Group, who also worked on the Percy Jackson series, alongside his creative partner and wife, Rebecca Riordan. Previously, Riordan was in discussions with Netflix for a film adaptation of "The Kane Chronicles," but the deal eventually fell through, leading to Disney's acquisition of the rights.

Robinson's 20th Television will produce the series. Her directorial and writing credits include episodes of "Wednesday" and "How to Get Away With Murder," as well as the 2017 film "Professor Marston and the Wonder Women."
