An eight-episode RoboCop series is in development for Prime Video, with horror maestro James Wan and writer-showrunner Peter Ocko leading the project. The series' development follows Amazon's acquisition of MGM in 2022, and Ocko joined the production in 2024 to pen the script and oversee the show as co-executive producer alongside Wan.

Wan, known for co-creating franchises like Saw and Insidious and for building The Conjuring universe, is a self-proclaimed lifelong RoboCop fan. He expressed excitement about reimagining the property, stating that he aims to honor the original's impact while highlighting its continued relevance in today's tech-driven society.

Peter Ocko brings extensive television experience, having worked on series such as Pushing Daisies, The Office, Elementary, and Black Sails. The production will be handled by Blumhouse Atomic Monster, the merged entity of Blumhouse Productions and James Wan's Atomic Monster. Michael Clear and Rob Hackett are also attached as co-executive producers.

Founding producers of the 1987 film, Ed Neumeier and Michael Miner, are also executive producing the new series, ensuring continuity with the original vision. The official logline describes the series as centering on a "giant tech conglomerate" that successfully lobbies the city to deploy a powerful robotic officer, who is implanted with the consciousness of a deceased officer. This premise aligns with the core themes of the original film, which explored humanity's relationship with technology, corporate influence, and identity.

Amazon MGM Studios' Head of Global Television, Peter Friedlander, characterized RoboCop as more than just an action story, but rather a "sharp, provocative mirror of our relationship with technology and power." He believes Ocko's vision, combined with Wan's cinematic style and Blumhouse Atomic Monster's production capabilities, will create a fresh and engaging series for a new generation.

No release date has been announced for the RoboCop series. However, fans can currently engage with the franchise through the first-person shooter RoboCop: Rogue City, which was released in November 2023 and is slated to receive a standalone expansion in 2025. IGN awarded the game a 7/10, describing it as "the video game equivalent of a B movie in the best way."
