Ryan Reynolds, the actor behind the wisecracking Deadpool, has indicated that future installments in the franchise could draw from deeper, less-explored corners of the Marvel comics. Reynolds, who recently starred in the box office success Deadpool & Wolverine, stated in a recent discussion that there are still "deep cuts" from the comics that have yet to be adapted for the screen.

Speaking at Fanatics Fest, Reynolds highlighted comic writers whose work he admires, including Fabian Nicieza, co-creator of Deadpool and writer of the character's first solo run, and Gerry Duggan, known for various Deadpool comic series. Nicieza's contributions include "Deadpool: The Circle Chase," "Cable & Deadpool," and "Deadpool & Cable: Split Second." Duggan's notable works include "Deadpool: Dracula's Gauntlet" and "Wedding of Deadpool." Duggan also contributed to the script for Insomniac Games' "Sunset Overdrive."

While a fourth Deadpool film appears likely given the franchise's success, concrete plans remain distant. Reynolds has previously suggested a shift away from solo Deadpool movies, hinting at a preference for ensemble projects. He told The Hollywood Reporter that he has been developing an idea for a film that could potentially involve multiple X-Men characters. In a separate conversation with Today, Reynolds expressed that he no longer sees Deadpool as the central figure of a movie, stating, "I don't think I'm ever going to center him again. He's a supporting character, he's a guy that is great in a group."

It remains unclear when audiences might see Deadpool on screen again, and there is no indication of his appearance in upcoming major Marvel events such as "Avengers: Doomsday," which is anticipated to be a more serious narrative.
