Scarlett Johansson has revealed that her role in the forthcoming film The Batman: Part II presented significant challenges, describing the experience as one that induced "existential angst." The actor, known for her portrayal of Black Widow in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, shared these sentiments during an interview with Entertainment Tonight while promoting her new movie, Paper Tiger.

When asked which of her upcoming franchise roles—Exorcist: Martyrs or The Batman: Part II—pushed her the most outside her comfort zone, Johansson pointed to the latter. "It was very hard to figure out," she stated, admitting that she couldn't pinpoint the exact reason for the difficulty, whether it was the nature of the character or her personal state at the time.

Rumors have circulated, suggesting Johansson might be playing Gilda Dent or Poison Ivy in the sequel, though she has not confirmed her character. This news comes as The Batman: Part II continues filming in the UK. Director Matt Reeves is currently overseeing the final stages of production with Steven Soderbergh stepping in while Reeves attends to a family matter. Reeves is expected to resume directing duties during the post-production phase. The film is currently slated for release on February 18, 2028. Robert Pattinson, who reprises his role as Batman, previously commented on the sequel's deep exploration of Bruce Wayne's psychology, suggesting it offers a perspective not previously seen on screen.
