The popular anime series Solo Leveling is set to continue its narrative with a full-length movie titled "Solo Leveling: Beyond the System." The announcement was made at Crunchyroll's Anime Expo showcase by Aleks Le, the English voice actor for protagonist Sung Jinwoo. The movie will follow directly after the events of the second season, "Solo Leveling: Arise from the Shadow."
While specific release dates for the film or news regarding a potential third season have not yet been revealed, the announcement was accompanied by a concept video and key art for the movie. Animation for "Solo Leveling: Beyond the System" is being handled by A-1 Pictures, known for their work on series such as "Sword Art Online" and "Brotherhood: Final Fantasy XV." They are collaborating on the project with Aniplex, Netmarble, D&C MEDIA, Kakao Piccoma, and Crunchyroll.
The Solo Leveling story centers on Sung Jinwoo, a supernatural monster hunter. Facing significant financial burdens from his mother's medical care and his sister's education, Jinwoo takes a dangerous risk that grants him the unique ability to level up. This power transforms him from the "World's Weakest Hunter" into an exceptionally formidable force.
The anime is based on the South Korean web novel of the same name, originally published in 2016. A webtoon adaptation followed in 2018, and the anime series premiered on Crunchyroll in 2024, with its second season released last year.
