Spider-Man: Brand New Day has achieved a significant box office milestone, becoming the first film featuring Marvel's wall-crawling hero to surpass $2 billion in global ticket sales. The movie reached this landmark just over three weeks after its premiere on July 31, 2026. Its worldwide gross is divided between an estimated $785.8 million domestically and $1.236 billion internationally.

This achievement makes "Brand New Day," starring Tom Holland and directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, Sony's highest-grossing release ever, with a total of $2.022 billion. It is the eighth film in history to cross the $2 billion threshold. While previous Spider-Man films have seen considerable success, none had previously reached this particular box office figure.

Prior to "Brand New Day," 2021's "Spider-Man: No Way Home" came closest, grossing $1.9 billion. Earlier installments, including "Far From Home" which earned $1.13 billion, and the standalone films featuring Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield, did not reach the $1 billion mark individually.

"Brand New Day" now joins a select group of films that have achieved such box office success. Within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, "Avengers: Infinity War" and "Avengers: Endgame" have also surpassed $2 billion. Other films in this exclusive club include James Cameron's "Avatar" and its sequel, "Star Wars: Episode 7 – The Force Awakens," and "Ne Zha 2."

The film's path to $2 billion was strongly supported by positive reception from both audiences and critics. The decision by Cretton and the filmmaking team to largely withhold major plot reveals from trailers contributed to audience interest, encouraging viewers to experience the story in theaters. The film broke opening weekend records and achieved its first billion dollars within days of release.

"Brand New Day" is noted as the second-fastest film to reach the $2 billion mark, surpassed only by "Avengers: Endgame." The film is expected to continue its theatrical run for some time. IGN awarded "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" a 7/10, stating that it "effectively refocuses on the most reliable pillars of the webslinger: battling inner turmoil, swinging around NYC saving the day, and looking cool while doing so."
