Legendary and Capcom are set to bring Street Fighter back to the big screen this fall, marking the franchise's first live-action adaptation in 17 years. The upcoming film, directed by Kitao Sakurai, promises a grittier take on the beloved fighting game series, as evidenced by an exclusive new image showcasing iconic characters Chun-Li, Ryu, and Ken in a battered state. This visual approach echoes the post-match win screens found in early Street Fighter arcade games.

The movie is set in 1993, the same year Super Street Fighter 2 debuted, and centers on estranged martial artists Ryu and Ken Masters. They are reunited by Chun-Li to compete in the World Warrior Tournament, an event that conceals a dangerous conspiracy. The film features Andrew Koji as Ryu, Noah Centineo as Ken Masters, and Callina Liang as Chun-Li. The ensemble cast also includes Joe “Roman Reigns” Anoa'i as Akuma, David Dastmalchian as M. Bison, and Jason Momoa as Blanka, among others.

Street Fighter is scheduled for theatrical release on October 16 and will be screened in IMAX. This latest adaptation follows 2009's Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li and the original 1994 film.
