Fifteen Studio Ghibli films are set to receive a reprint in limited-edition Blu-ray steelbook packaging, with preorders now open. The collection is scheduled to release on September 29.
This reissue includes acclaimed titles such as Spirited Away, My Neighbor Totoro, and Princess Mononoke, alongside many other significant works from the studio's 40-year history. These films, many of which are considered masterpieces of animation, were primarily written and directed by Hayao Miyazaki or Isao Takahata. The releases feature high-caliber English voice casts, with notable actors including Cate Blanchett, Christian Bale, Emily Blunt, Gillian Anderson, Jamie Lee Curtis, Amy Poehler, Dev Patel, and Daisy Ridley contributing to the films.
While most of the previous steelbook editions have sold out, some titles remain available at lower prices. Kiki's Delivery Service and Grave of the Fireflies, for example, can currently be purchased without waiting for the September release.
Studio Ghibli's films are celebrated for their visual artistry and compelling narratives. My Neighbor Totoro follows two children who discover magical creatures after moving to the countryside, while Spirited Away depicts a young girl's journey through a spirit world to rescue her parents.
