The 2022 survival thriller Fall, directed by Scott Mann, is now available to watch for free on YouTube. The film does not require a subscription or rental fee.
Fall centers on best friends Becky and Shiloh, portrayed by Grace Caroline Currey and Virginia Gardner, respectively. Their journey takes them to a remote, abandoned radio tower in the desert, where they intend to scatter the ashes of Becky's late husband, who died in a climbing accident. However, upon reaching the summit of the 2,000-foot structure, the ladder they used breaks, leaving them stranded on a small platform with no immediate means of descent.
Adding to their predicament, their backpack containing essential supplies like water and a drone falls onto a satellite dish far below. With their phones experiencing interference and no one in the vicinity to offer aid, Becky and Shiloh must resort to increasingly desperate measures to signal for help. As the desert heat intensifies and their resources dwindle, they face escalating challenges including injuries, exhaustion, and the ominous presence of circling vultures.
The film garnered a generally positive reception, holding a 79% critics score and a 79% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. Critics frequently highlighted the movie's straightforward premise and its visually striking, dizzying cinematography.
For its production, the filmmakers incorporated real tower footage for establishing shots. The upper section of the tower was constructed on a mountain cliff situated over 2,000 feet above sea level. Director Scott Mann opted to avoid green screens, allowing the lead actresses to perform many scenes surrounded by authentic environmental conditions, including wind and open air.
Fall is being offered for free on YouTube in anticipation of its sequel, Fall 2: Deadpoint, which is scheduled for release in theaters on September 2.
