Apple TV+'s acclaimed comedy series Ted Lasso is set to return for its fourth season on August 5, with a new trailer offering a glimpse of returning characters and fresh storylines. The upcoming season will see Ted Lasso back in Richmond, embarking on a new chapter coaching a second-division women's football team.

The trailer hints at the team's challenges, featuring coaches in unexpected situations and reigniting the familiar will-they/won't-they dynamic. Jason Sudeikis reprises his role as the titular coach, alongside Hannah Waddingham as AFC Richmond owner Rebecca Welton. The ensemble cast also includes returning favorites such as Jeremy Swift as Leslie Higgins, Brendan Goldstein as Roy Kent, Brendan Hunt as Coach Willis Beard, and Juno Temple as Keeley Jones. The ten-episode season will conclude on October 7.

Ted Lasso achieved significant cultural impact, earning 61 Emmy nominations and winning Best Comedy for its first two seasons. While the third season garnered mixed reactions due to perceived writing issues, the series was originally conceived with a three-season arc, which was reflected in its conclusive narrative. Nevertheless, Apple renewed the series in March 2025.

Fans may recall that the previous season concluded with Ted passing coaching duties to Roy Kent to return to the U.S. to be with his son. Keeley Jones had also proposed the creation of an AFC Richmond Women's Team, a concept that now appears to be central to Ted's new coaching role.

Despite potential skepticism following the events of the last season, Ted's return to coach a new team offers a fresh direction for the show, aiming to recapture the wholesome charm that defined its early success. The latest trailer suggests a return to the series' signature blend of earnestness and humor, leaving audiences to see if season four can recapture the magic of its acclaimed first two installments.
