Paramount Pictures has unveiled the first trailer for The Angry Birds Movie 3, signaling the continuation of the animated film franchise. The upcoming movie sees the return of Red, voiced by Jason Sudeikis, who faces his "greatest challenge yet" as he navigates fatherhood and the need to save the world.
The film is slated for release on December 23 and boasts a prominent voice cast. Alongside Sudeikis, the lineup includes Josh Gad, Danny McBride, Tim Robinson, Sam Richardson, Keke Palmer, Nikki Glaser, Lily James, and internet personality Mr. Beast.
A notable moment in the trailer features a baby bird persistently peeing through a colander, a scene that prompts Bomb, voiced by Danny McBride, to humorously compare it to "the Bellagio fountain."
The first Angry Birds Movie premiered in 2016, followed by its sequel in 2019. The franchise has now been active for nearly a decade. The original film achieved a worldwide gross of $352 million, though its sequel garnered less than half of that, earning $148 million globally.
In related business news, Sega acquired the Rovio franchise, the creator of the Angry Birds games, in 2023 for $776 million. However, Sega CEO Haruki Satomi indicated that the acquisition has not yet yielded the expected financial results.
