Netflix has officially renewed Guy Ritchie's crime drama The Gentlemen for a third season, just weeks after the second season's September 3 release. The announcement came in August, confirming the continuation of the series that follows Duke Eddie Horniman's escalating involvement in the criminal underworld.
The second season saw Eddie, portrayed by Theo James, navigating a complex web of alliances and betrayals. His initial goal of restoring his family estate led him deeper into the drug trade, eventually making him a target and a pawn for various crime bosses. He attempted to pass legislation to decriminalize marijuana, clashed with crime lord Bobby Glass (Ray Winstone), and leveraged his estate against Italian mob boss Marco Moretti (Sergio Castellitto). A loan from billionaire Fred Johnston (Giancarlo Esposito) became necessary when the legislative efforts failed, with Bobby Glass ultimately buying Eddie's debt to exert further control.
The season culminated in a dramatic turn of events, including the apparent murder of Eddie's new wife, Countess Isabella (Benedetta Porcaroli), in an explosion intended for both of them. This attack was orchestrated by his brother Freddy (Daniel Ings) and cocaine dealer Gospel John Dixon (Pearce Quigley), who also kidnapped Eddie's infant nephew. Eddie managed to apprehend Dixon with the assistance of a cocaine supplier connected to Bobby's daughter Susie (Kaya Scodelario), ultimately forcing Freddy to kill Dixon.
Season 3 is expected to delve into the repercussions of these betrayals. Eddie will face renewed pressure to either remain Bobby's lieutenant or forge his own criminal empire. The fallout from Freddy's actions will likely strain family trust, while the volatile nature of their business puts the rest of Eddie's family in jeopardy. The series may also further explore the developing romantic tension between Eddie and Susie, who are both now single.
While an official release date for The Gentlemen season 3 has not been announced, speculation suggests a 2028 release, based on the staggered release schedule of the previous seasons. The first season premiered in March 2024, followed by season 2 in September 2026.
Guy Ritchie, known for films like Snatch and Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, has found significant success in television. His other series include MobLand, which is set to premiere its second season on September 18 and has already been renewed for a third, and Young Sherlock, which is also developing a second season for Prime Video.
