Nintendo has confirmed the official title for its forthcoming live-action film adaptation of The Legend of Zelda. The movie will simply be known as "The Legend of Zelda," a straightforward naming choice that hints at an origin story for the beloved franchise. The reveal was made by Nintendo legend Shigeru Miyamoto during a recent Nintendo Direct presentation.

While fans may have hoped for a trailer or further cast reveals, the title announcement was presented following an orchestral opening, leading to a moment Miyamoto suggested would make sense to fans as more information becomes available. Further details about the film are expected to be shared by Nintendo in the future.

Filming for The Legend of Zelda movie concluded in April 2026. Director Wes Ball has previously described the film's tone as having a more "grounded" and "real" vibe. The movie stars Benjamin Evan Ainsworth as Link and Bo Bragason as Princess Zelda. The cast also includes Uli Latukefu as Ganondorf, Dichen Lachman as Impa, and Yvonne Strahovski in an undisclosed role. Sam Neill is also rumored to portray the King of Hyrule. Shigeru Miyamoto is producing the film in collaboration with Avi Arad.

The Nintendo Direct presentation that featured the title reveal also included other significant Zelda-related news, such as the first gameplay footage of an Ocarina of Time remake and the announcement of a new, more expensive Nintendo Switch 2 console launching alongside the remake.
