Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu is now available for digital rental and purchase on platforms including Prime Video, approximately two months after its May 22 theatrical release. The film's digital debut marks its transition following a box office run that grossed just over $344 million against a reported budget of $165 million. This performance positions it as the lowest-grossing live-action Star Wars movie to date.

Rentals are priced at $24.99, with a purchase option available for $29.99. Both options include bonus digital extras such as featurettes and audio commentary. One of the included featurettes reportedly suggests that the standalone series, The Mandalorian, concluded in 2023, raising questions about future installments for Din Djarin and Grogu's story. The film effectively served as a substitute for a potential fourth season of the Disney+ series.

The movie's box office struggles became apparent in its second weekend, with a drop of over 60% in theater attendance. Critically, the film holds a 60% Critics Score on Rotten Tomatoes. IGN's review of the movie awarded it a 5/10, stating it added little to the franchise.

Physical media releases, including a standard Blu-ray and a 4K steelbook, are available for preorder and scheduled for release on August 25.

Looking ahead, the Star Wars universe continues to expand with new projects. The animated series Star Wars Visions will receive a new spin-off, ‘The Ninth Jedi,’ next month on Disney+. A new live-action Star Wars film, Star Wars: Starfighter, starring Ryan Gosling, is slated for a theatrical release next May.

While The Mandalorian and Grogu is now available digitally, it is expected to eventually stream on Disney+. Following a pattern similar to other Disney-owned properties, which typically arrive on the service around 90 days after their theatrical debut, The Mandalorian and Grogu could be available on Disney+ by early September.
