Fifteen years after its initial release, the cult horror film Megan Is Missing has received a surprise sequel titled Megan Is Missing: Evil Never Dies. The new series is available for free on Instagram, continuing the story in a format fitting for its online origins.

Michael Goi, the original filmmaker, wrote and directed the sequel. The series was quietly released in episodes and teasers by Goi, cast members, and influencers before becoming fully accessible online. Goi stated to Dread Central that the idea to continue the story came to fruition after years of audience requests, and that the vertical format of Instagram allows for increased audience proximity to the terror.

Megan Is Missing, originally released in 2011, followed two high schoolers whose lives descend into a nightmare after one connects with an online stranger. The film, presented in a found-footage style through video chats and webcam feeds, gained notoriety for its dark themes and bleak conclusion. It resurfaced in public consciousness in 2020 on TikTok, prompting Goi to issue a warning about the film's graphic content.

The sequel features original stars Rachel Quinn and Amber Perkins reprising their roles as versions of their real-world selves. They are invited onto a podcast by a host with sinister intentions, leading to further disturbing events. The complete sequel can be viewed now on Instagram across its 36 episodes.
