A new English trailer has been released for Yoko Taro's upcoming Neon Genesis Evangelion series, titled simply Evangelion. The trailer was revealed during CloverWorks's Anime Expo 2026 panel.
The series is being directed by Tôko Yatabe, known for her key animation work on "Mob Psycho 100," "Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc," and "Weathering with You." Kazuya Tsurumaki, who worked on the Rebuild of Evangelion films, is also directing. The soundtrack will be composed by Keiichi Okabe, Taro's frequent collaborator on the NieR series.
Yoko Taro himself is handling the screenplay, with animation duties shared by CloverWorks and Studio Khara, the latter of which animated the recent Neon Genesis Evangelion movies. This marks the second announcement for the series, with this latest trailer offering the first official English translation of footage previously shown in February.
Despite fan excitement, there is some confusion regarding the series' necessity, given that "Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time" was seen as a conclusive end to the Rebuild of Evangelion saga. However, Yoko Taro has previously cited Neon Genesis Evangelion as a primary inspiration for his work, particularly the NieR series. In an interview last year, Taro stated that "everything I make is influenced by Evangelion."
No release date has been announced for the Evangelion series, but a launch before the end of 2027 seems plausible. No images were provided for this article.
