Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson has been announced as an executive producer for the upcoming Payday television series, a collaboration between Starbreeze Entertainment and Vice Studios. Jackson will contribute through his G-Unit Film and Television company.
"G-Unit Film & TV has built cinematic crime stories that connect with audiences around the world," Jackson stated. "Teaming up with Vice Studios and bringing the world of Payday to the screen gives us the chance to build something big, a high-energy franchise that pushes the heist genre forward." Jackson has prior experience as an executive producer on shows such as Fightland and Power Book IV: Force, and has also appeared as an actor in films like Den of Thieves and Southpaw. He is also slated to play Balrog in the upcoming live-action Street Fighter movie.
Starbreeze CEO Adolf Kristjansson commented on the collaboration, saying, "Payday has always been about the fantasy of getting away with it. Curtis and G-Unit don’t do subtle, and neither do we. This is not about playing it safe; it's about doing the franchise justice with people who are as immersed in the world as we are."
The Payday TV show adaptation was initially revealed in March. The game series follows a group of masked criminals executing elaborate heists and has seen three main entries. Payday 2 continues to maintain a significant player base on platforms like Steam, while the most recent installment, Payday 3, faced challenges with player retention after its launch in 2023.
President of Vice Studios Amy Powell added, "Vice has always been drawn to stories that live outside the lines, and Payday is exactly that kind of world. G-Unit understands what makes Payday tick, and they’re bringing a perspective that’s true to the franchise without playing it safe." While Starbreeze has previously expressed interest in a Payday movie, details regarding the TV show, including its network, release date, cast, and plot, have not yet been officially disclosed.
