Activision is making a concerted effort to assure players that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 will deliver a strong single-player experience, a departure from the widely criticized campaign in Call of Duty: Black Ops 7. To underscore this commitment, a playable campaign mission will be included in the upcoming Modern Warfare 4 beta.

This inclusion marks a significant first for the Call of Duty franchise, as betas have historically focused on multiplayer components. The previous year's Black Ops 7 campaign faced considerable backlash for its narrative shortcomings and disjointed events, leading Activision to acknowledge the disappointment and promise improvements. The upcoming Modern Warfare 4 aims to address these concerns directly.

Beta Content Details

Xbox CEO Asha Sharma announced on social media that the Modern Warfare 4 beta, set to begin on August 21 for digital pre-order customers, will feature a single-player mission titled "Trenched." This mission will become available to all players during the open beta phase, which commences on August 28 across all platforms. This early access to campaign content is intended to provide players with a tangible preview of the game's narrative direction and quality.

In addition to the campaign mission, the Modern Warfare 4 beta will also offer a glimpse of the new Warzone: Resurgence map, "Zodiac." The beta is set to be extensive, including multiple multiplayer maps, various game modes, and a selection of weapons, suggesting Activision's desire to showcase a comprehensive experience and rebuild player confidence.
