Cold Iron Studios, the developer behind the cooperative PvE shooter Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2, has announced a significant delay for the Nintendo Switch 2 version of the game. Originally slated for release this month, the title is now scheduled to launch in early 2027.
"After careful consideration, we now plan to release it natively on Switch 2 in early 2027," a statement from the studio reads. "This extra time will help the team deliver the best possible version for the hardware. Thank you for your patience and understanding. In the meantime, the team at Cold Iron remains aggressively focused on tuning Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 to be the best possible experience for every player."
This marks the second major third-party game to push back its planned Nintendo Switch 2 release to early 2027. IO Interactive recently announced that its James Bond game, 007: First Light, will also not be available on the new Nintendo hardware until early next year.
The PC, Xbox, and PlayStation versions of Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 received a 7 out of 10 from IGN. The review noted that while the game "isn’t going to make you leave a co-op shooter you already love at the altar, but it is a good time with friends."
