During Gamescom Opening Night Live, NetEase unveiled a new trailer for its upcoming open-world anime action-adventure game, Ananta, revealing a January 15 release date and a surprising emphasis on internet memes. The trailer showcased references to popular online jokes and slang, including the Gatsby lifting glass meme, the Dragon Ball Z "Yamcha death" meme, and a nod to the main character being called the "yeetmaster."
The three-minute trailer provided glimpses of both Nova City and Lingyun City, the two primary open areas that will serve as the game's setting. Players can expect diverse traversal options, including flying cars, motorbikes, and skateboards, as they navigate these urban environments. The narrative centers on a social media influencer tasked with saving the world by "going viral." Along their journey, players will encounter over 100 characters, each with their own questlines, and some of whom can be recruited as allies.
