Andrew Garfield has expressed a willingness to reprise his role as Spider-Man in a potential The Amazing Spider-Man 3, but only if the film embraces a highly unusual and unexpected approach. Garfield stated in an interview with The Playlist that such a return would need to be "very, very odd," "very strange," and "completely unconventional."

He elaborated that he envisions a Spider-Man film that deviates significantly from established norms, perhaps even exploring a new genre. As an example of his out-of-the-box thinking, he suggested a road trip movie concept.

Garfield's tenure as Spider-Man concluded with The Amazing Spider-Man 2 in 2014. Following that film's performance, Sony and Marvel Studios initiated discussions that led to the integration of Spider-Man into the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Tom Holland taking on the mantle. Holland's iteration has since starred in multiple MCU films, with his latest, Spider-Man: No Way Home, achieving significant box office success.

Garfield did, however, have an opportunity to revisit his version of the character in Spider-Man: No Way Home, appearing alongside Tobey Maguire and Tom Holland. This appearance offered a form of narrative closure for his character and has led to renewed fan interest in potential standalone films for both Garfield and Maguire. While Tom Holland's Spider-Man remains active in the MCU, rumors persist about Tobey Maguire's potential return in future Avengers installments.
