Anne Rice's gothic horror universe, known from AMC's television adaptations, is set to become a tabletop role-playing game. Renegade Game Studios plans to launch a BackerKit campaign this fall to fund the project, which will begin with a starter set focused on Interview with the Vampire and a New Orleans rulebook.

The new TTRPG aims to draw from the narrative style of Rice's novels, emphasizing relationship-driven stories that span centuries. This approach, with its focus on unreliable memory, is described as resembling the solo TTRPG Thousand Year Old Vampire. The Immortal Universe game is planned to expand over time, incorporating elements from the source material that feature witches and psychics, similar to how White Wolf developed its Vampire: The Masquerade game by adapting its core system for other supernatural creatures.

While the tabletop role-playing scene already features the long-established Vampire: The Masquerade, which shares thematic and structural similarities with Rice's works, Renegade Game Studios is betting on the enduring appeal of the Immortal Universe. The game's launch comes as AMC's adaptations, including The Vampire Lestat and Mayfair Witches, continue to engage fans, providing a new avenue for experiencing Rice's complex world.
