Apex Legends is set to receive a significant infusion of Night City flavor with an upcoming crossover event featuring Cyberpunk 2077 and the animated series Cyberpunk Edgerunners. Revealed by developer Respawn Entertainment and CD Projekt Red, the event will introduce characters and a wealth of themed cosmetics to the popular battle royale.

The collaboration goes beyond superficial skins, with the E-District map undergoing a substantial makeover to resemble Cyberpunk's Night City. Elements such as the Arasaka Citadel takeover of Energy Bank and the neon-drenched aesthetic of Neon Square will be integrated into the environment. Additionally, the fast-paced Wildcard mode will incorporate two new Cyberpunk-inspired Cyberware mods: Sandevistan and Blackwall Breach. Sandevistan is designed to grant rapid directional dashes, allowing for quick repositioning or evasive maneuvers. Blackwall Breach, on the other hand, enables players to phase into the Net for tactical redeployment and unleash a disruptive blast to shatter enemy shields.

The event will feature themed skins for eight Legends, drawing parallels between Apex characters and figures from Cyberpunk. These include Axle as Lucy, Sparrow as David Martinez, Rampart as Rebecca, Crypto as Male V, Lifeline as Female V, Gibraltar as Royce, Loba as Panam, and Ash as Lizzy Wizzy. According to Apex Legends art director Alisa Rastorgueva, these pairings were chosen with intention, matching both the aesthetics and personalities of the characters. Weapon skins will also align with these themes, with new designs planned for the Wingman, Charge Rifle, Mastiff, L-STAR, P2020, RE-45, R-301, and Kraber. Notably, one Mythic Alternator skin will be based on the Skippy weapon from Cyberpunk 2077, complete with character-specific voice lines and animations.

Jesse Medellin, lead technical designer on Apex Legends, stated that the Cyberware mods are intended to serve as callbacks to David and Lucy's narrative. The Sandevistan aims to capture the speed David wields, while Blackwall Breach reflects the power of a netrunner like Lucy. The Apex Legends x Cyberpunk event is scheduled to begin soon, bringing these Night City elements to the Apex Games across multiple platforms including PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch.
