Ubisoft orchestrated an unusual marketing campaign for the recent launch of Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced, enlisting a diverse range of companies, including fellow game developers, hardware manufacturers, and even a fast-food giant, to help spread the word. Social media accounts for titles such as Dead by Daylight and Control, alongside hardware brands like SteelSeries, displayed Black Flag-themed imagery and adopted pirate parlance to announce the game's arrival.
The Epic Games Store also participated, rebranding its social media profiles with visual assets from the acclaimed pirate title. McDonald's joined the unconventional promotion, tweeting a message about sailing the "Hi-C’s this weekend" and featuring Black Flag's signature pirate flag.
Within Ubisoft's own portfolio, accounts for Watch Dogs, Rabbids, and For Honor also took part in the "Board the Feed" initiative, a move that aligns with internal marketing efforts. The official Assassin's Creed social channels announced the campaign and offered players a reward code for a free pet monkey to accompany them on their ships in the game.
Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced, which reportedly brings the original game up to modern standards, launched today and is available on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC. IGN awarded the title a 9 out of 10, praising its modernization of an already strong entry in the series.
