Ubisoft has detailed the performance and feature set for Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced on PlayStation 5 consoles ahead of its upcoming launch. The remaster will target up to 60 frames per second, support HDR for improved color depth, and incorporate Dolby Atmos for enhanced audio. Additionally, the DualSense controller's haptic feedback will be utilized.
Console specifications indicate an upscaled 2160p (4K) output across all graphical modes on both the standard PS5 and the PS5 Pro. The game will offer Performance, Balanced, and Fidelity modes, targeting 60 FPS, 40 FPS, and 30 FPS respectively. While internal rendering resolutions are expected to vary with these modes, the final output will be upscaled to 4K using Sony's PSSR upscaling technology.
Ray tracing implementation will follow a similar approach to Assassin's Creed Shadows, built on the latest version of Ubisoft's Anvil engine. Basic ray tracing support in Performance mode will focus on global illumination, with reflections being a more prominent addition in the Balanced and Fidelity modes. These latter modes are expected to offer higher internal resolution targets for sharper image quality.
The PS5 Pro version is set to receive further enhancements, ensuring that 60 FPS can be maintained across all modes without sacrificing visual features. A strand-based hair system, previously seen in Shadows' higher-tier modes, will be available for Edward Kenway on PS5 Pro regardless of the chosen graphical setting. This technology will also be applied to nearby NPCs in Fidelity mode and to all characters during cinematics across all modes.
Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced is slated for a summer release and is expected to launch on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. Early impressions suggest that while the game may feel "a bit rough around the edges," its core appeal resonates with the enduring qualities of the original title.
